This animal is such medicine for me. Her name is Athena and she is a ball python. I have had her for about a year now. All I have to do is get her out of her enclosure and the moment I feel the weight of her body in my hands, something in my system relaxes. I feel such a deep sense of pleasure, connection and calm. As I let her move her body over mine for just a few moments, I feel a quiet sense of joy. She moves slowly, methodically. As I watch her, part of me also vicariously experiences what it would be like to move through life with no appendages, with a simple nervous system that seems to respond to stimuli with either a "yes" or a "no". Doesn't seem to be much "gray area" in the reptile realm.
