What happens when our parts play?

Looking for an excuse to come and explore Asheville, NC? How about coming to see an amazing theatre piece being produced here, the weekend of October 3-5?

I am so thrilled to be part of this incredible piece of art. The brilliant script, written by Juno and Daphne, will be performed by a talented cast of actors... and... me! I have not been in any kind of theatre since I was in high school. I've already memorized my lines, I am so nervous about forgetting them. I really want them to be second nature to me.

The story is about a young woman named Lina - and her struggle to reclaim her creativity. I get to play her Mom, who is constantly encouraging Lina to do things like get good grades, get into a good college, and go to law school! As I hear the lines from this play, I am constantly struck by how Lina's story is mine, especially as we get to know her "parts" - these various characters of her psyche who step in to inspire, stretch and protect her.

It's going to be so much fun to watch Lina play with her muse "Aja" who is portrayed by Phillipe. As many of you know, Phillipe is a beloved family member of mine, and he also directed the culminating "play" at this year's Forest Fairy Festival. Here he is, in his joy and genius:

Tickets will likely sell out, as there are quite a few talented people in this show, and the script is so brilliant.

Here's a picture from our first read through of the script - this is me with Jordan, who plays Lina, the main character of the story.

There will be four performances - Friday October 3rd at 7 pm, Saturday October 4th at 7 pm, Sunday October 5th at 1 pm and 7 pm. I hope to see you there!

Make a weekend trip out of it! There are amazing restaurants, hiking trails, and so many other events and cultural things to do here in Asheville, while you are visiting.

Also, I am available on Monday, October 6th (and subsequent days as well) to do individual sessions, or even a multiple day customized intensive, in person, here in Asheville. Let me know if you would like to add that on to your visit.
